With the number of FJ we have, is it worth making 10 of the German places FJ only, do you think? We could do the same for the yanks as well. It won't be hard to write the plan to make sure we have lots of para on para action. Then there's still scope for the infantry types as well.

Yes, a hopeful start. I'm afraid I hold great store in having a good 'hook' and getting player's imaginations racing (even though the event may not live up to the hype

I'm guessing that people will mainly want to be 82nd and FJ and therefore limiting the places might be self-defeating, particularly if we keep pushing the para v para thing.
If it works out with 15 para each side and five others that's fine with me.
True. It would be very nice to have lots of FJ. Most US para types have M42's, rather than M43's but we can just say that they're "old sweats". I've been keen to stress that noone needs to buy gear just for this event, although they probably will!

I've not seen any pics of standard M43/buckle boot infantry at Nijmagen yet but I suppose it isn't impossible.
OK, need a sticky really, following for comments:
Dress code
This is a somewhat restricted dress code event. To help the 'being there' feeling CiA like to give to events we are being conservative with suitable attire while at the same time giving regard to kit players already have, or can adapt, or easily borrow.
The allies are US only. Mainly 508th PIR but also 325th GIR, all of the 82nd Airborne.
508th wearing M42 or M43 jump suits with Corcorans if you have them.
325th wearing M43 jackets/M43 jump/standard trousers, or M41 jacket/M37 trousers, buckle boots or Corcorans if you have either otherwise roughouts.
Arm badges of either 82nd AA or none at all, either is acceptable.
The Germans are mainly 3rd FJ Div.
SS and Heer troops are Kampfgruppen and not a homogeneous unit.
There is no need to remove existing cuff titles, and the use of camo is player's choice.
All Feldgrau/blue wool uniform types are acceptable.
Looks good to me. I also think it's worth mentioning to the yanks to keep any rank insignia at sergeant or lower.

Buckle Boots should be an option for Airborne, but many kept Corcorans too.
Yes indeed. In 'It never snows in September' it even describes the exact troops involved in the battle wearing such a mix. I'm going to see if I can find the film of it since it is referenced. Alot of the troops were also transfers and recent conscripts to the kit would likely be even more varied than that.
I'd completely forgotten the book covers this action . I'll put down the Jed book and re-read Kershaw's book (well, skim for detail).

The book concentrates on Arnhem and actions around 17th to 26th Sept, rather predictably, and detail is muddled when it comes to the Nijmagen area. But it was definitely the 10th SS Panzer Division Frundsberg in the area along with Heer Flak and Nebel battalions and 3 & 5 Fallschirmjaeger and loads of conscripts, untrained and en-route.
I'm badged as 9th Hohenstaufen so I'll keep that - I was on leave departing Arnhem without a care in the world but got caught by the air drops as I passed Nijmagen and roped in to the various Kampfgruppen. 
From the battle orders of the attack on Nijmagen Heights on 20th Sept was by Korps 'Feldt'. KGr Becker comprising remnants of 5, 8 & 9 Regts from 3 Fallschirmjaeger Div, 88mm Flak + 20mm, 'von Fuerstenberg' guns on halftracks, Battalion 'Isphording'. KGr Greschick and KGr Hermann comprising untrained conscripts, combat teams with 88mm plus 20mm, remnants Regts of 5 Fallschirmjaeger DIv, Fallschirmjaeger Arty Regt 6.
I think Nebels would be awesome but given the site restrictions I don't think we can get away with multiple rocket launches! What would be awesome is having a jerry nebel team kitted with a mortar. And here's a thought - how about asking Tony Lewis to make up some mortar rounds with smoke charges? I'm sure it won't be a problem and he would relish the task - all our mortar rounds are hand made to order anyway.
